Assassin in PvE
Aside from farming, is there any reason to make an assassin for PvE? Is it fun to assassinate monsters or will they all target you as soon as you shadow step in? (assuming you are in a party)

depends on what build you run. BTW most assassins chose not to run the whole instagib thing in PVE (unless combined with [Assassins Promise]). I had fun with my sin when i played him but the game is really only as fun as you make it ^_______________^
as for the whole shadow step thing no they dont rape you preprotting is fun

Assassins can work in PvE, however you must keep two things in mind to not die a lot.
1) Assassins are NOT Tanks (still don't get why people think that they are).
2) Most spike builds do NOT work in PvE. Imo, shadow stepping is an overall bad idea, at least for a starter assassin (rather low armor and people who can't shadow step right end up going out of the monk's range and dying due to lack of healing).
Keep those things in mind and you should do fine.

no, its because most new sins have the "ZOMG IZ A NINJA!1!1!one!!" mentality
assassins in PvE involve spamming [death blossom]and[moebius strike] to produce AoE butthurt

Wasn't this the case when factions came out.
Anyway death blossom+moebius strike is superior in PvE then instagib for certain reasons.

Please note a few things:
1. I was talking about NEW assassins, and that's ineffective until your able to put 12 into Shadow Arts.
2. You need Nightfall and Eye of the North skills.
3. That's for farming, not Tanking. If your using that to tank in any ol' place, you WILL end up fighting enemies with skills to go past Shadow Form.

PvE Assassin Fun
[skill]Critical Agility[/skill]
A sin that isn't trying to farm's best friend. As a normal frontline operative, this should be the IAS of choice for a sin in PvE. Easily maintained and boosts armor, too. This is the best skill ANet has made for the assassin class, imho.
If the armor insignias are implemented correctly, the sin's armor is compareable to a Paragon, thanks to CA. That's nothing to sneeze at.

I really enjoy playing the sin more than any other profession in the game. I don't know why. It just seems more challenging and more satisfying than the others.

Nah, People tried tanking on sins waaaaay before deadly paradox and glyph of swiftness hit the scene. Within a week of factions coming out sins were pariahs throughout GW because everyone had learned that a sin tryinig to tank would use up all of your monks energy. On the other hand a sin makes a great hit and run skirmisher. Just dont try to play like a warrior and youll be fine.

Before, I didnt see assassin as good in PVE at all, until I made one myself.
The mobeius spammer build is REALLY.
Throw in , critical agility, critical eyes, Save yourself and I like Assassins Remedy. And you are pretty much SET! you just have to cast your buffs up when the rest storm. That makes you arrive alitle later.

Here's why Assassins are good in PvE:
1 -> Moebius + Death Blossom Spam
2 -> Maxed Crit Strikes with Way of the Master on ANY weapon..its insane!
This second point is the reason I love Assassins to death, and it takes them beyond the meh category.
[build;OwJjkxfzITLiDQ6PxZfh4aqG7aA] (Take Crit Agility instead of Crit Defenses if using this on a human player. The build code is what my heroes are using. Try this out on Zenmai...you'll be amazed! )
[build;OwpiMypMtIWDOAp/IDCgFmBdBA]
[build;OwFiMxjMtIWDq/IWEWsDi9dVAA]
These are just a few ideas mind you, you could probably find more ways of exploiting the uber leetness that is Critical Strikes
So yes...Assassin's are VERY viable in PvE. You just have to think out of the box.
And Shadow Stepping even with pre protting is a pain to manage effectively in PvE..I'd only do it if you are REALLY gung ho about the whole "chills n thrills" gameplay.

There gotta be some REALLY good a/p builds with spears and both
Way of the Master and Way of the assassin.
Anyone have a build they would like to share?

Way of the Master + Way of the Sin are redundant when used together. It's more effective to use a different elite such as [dark apostasy] or [stunning strike].
However if thats what you really have your heart set on ill give you a build
[way of the assassin] [way of the master] [vicious attack] [critical agility] [swift javelin] [Spear of Lightning] and your two optionals could be anything you want really [critical defenses] is nice or [wild throw] to remove stances or [assassins remedy] to prevent blind or other debilitating conditions.

to be Smart, cast Recall on ur healer before Death Charging into battle step in do a mass amount of damage(wich the tank now should be in holding aggro), recall will end u'll be pulled out of damage zone, and u can repeat, it also help in the Rotscale Vanquish, when need to kill everything around rotscale(a propper sin wont die while doing this)...Sins can serve many [purposes, like say if there more then 1 healer in an enemy group a sin can shadow step in kill it and be out back near the group ready for the next target...Sins are really usefull in PvE just not many people can play a PvE sin without trying to be a tank O.o
